We have grown accustomed to thinking that the Land of Israel, and Jerusalem at its heart, have always been the center of the world. But the truth is that for centuries, this region—and the city of Jerusalem within it—

simply interested almost no one.

At various points in time, for different reasons each time, our region suddenly became of great interest to the Great Powers, and when that happened—

they became obsessed.

Beyond a fun tour, excellent hummus, and a healthy walk, we will visit some of the places that represent these dramatic changes. Together, we will discover how an ego competition between empires reshaped the land.
